Experience: Minimum 1 year in a Pediatric CICU/CVICU setting License: RN License required Certifications: PALS, BLS, ACLS required
Must-Have: 1 year of Pediatric CICU/CVICU experience as a staff nurse 3-4 contracts in a dedicated pediatric CICU 2 years minimum PICU experience as a staff nurse Experience caring for patients with congenital heart disease and postoperative management of CHD patients Experience managing arterial lines, central lines, and transthoracic lines
Description: Pediatric CVICU position available for an experienced nurse. Unit has 27 beds and employs 90 staff members. The team cares for ICU and step-down level patients. Day shift has 2 charge nurses for ICU and step down, PCT, and RNs based on census and acuity. Night shift has similar staffing with 2 charges, 1 PCT, and RNs. Patient ratios can be 1:2, 1:1, and occasionally 1:3. Equipment includes IV pumps, beds, and GE radiant warmers. EMR system is Meditech. Typical procedures performed include central line and arterial line placement, conscious sedation, intubation/extubation, and post-operative recovery for general and cardiac procedures. Candidates must demonstrate compassion and empathy in care delivery. Must be a hardworking team player who is meticulous and adaptable. Two or more years of pediatric cardiac experience in step down or cardiology floor is preferred. Experience with neonatal cardiac patients is also preferred. Rotating weekends required, but there is no call.
