Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant applies GAAP in accordance with the FASB to support leadership with financial insights that guide business decisions. This role analyzes financial information, reconciles general ledger accounts, prepares month-end close journal entries, and performs routine and non-routine accounting financial analysis. The Senior Account ensures compliance with internal controls, works closely with external parties, and evaluates variances.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform month-end close process, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial statement reviews. Assist in the preparation of the month-end financial statement package. Assist with the coding of miscellaneous prepaids and capital expenditures. Produce, prepare and maintain Homeowner Associations lead schedules and property tax schedules. Assist in preparation of company schedules for interim and annual audits. Complete special projects and other ad-hoc requests as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support the accounting department. Required Qualifications:
Strong general ledger analytical skills. Solid knowledge of GAAP and essential accounting processes. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word applications. Proactive with high attention to detail. Experience with JD Edwards or similar job cost accounting software. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. Ability to build positive rapport with individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as outside the company. Ability to maintain professionalism and a strong customer-focused demeanor with demanding clientele. Excellent time management skills, detail-orientation and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Experience with homebuilding, land development, or real estate accounting preferred. Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 3-6 years of general accounting experience required.
