We continue to have tremendous hockey‑stick growth, we have many exabytes of data stored, and are designing and building systems for zettabyte scale to support demand growth for the coming years.
As a Software Engineer Manager, you will improve and support extremely scalable, performant services that deliver reliable, secure and available access to storage for our customers. You will face challenges of monitoring, analyzing, and designing for ever‑growing data needs of our customers and for ensuring data privacy, protection and compliance. Responsibilities
Attract and retain talent while supporting career development and growth of team members.
Collaborate with PMs, architects, and cross‑functional teams to meet business objectives.
Develop solutions using distributed systems design concepts that enhance the performance and reliability of Azure Storage Platform.
Design and develop new features, conduct code reviews, and implement engineering best practices.
Organize and lead scrum meetings, track dependencies, and manage project schedules.
Guide the team and act as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitor other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
Lead product development and scaling to customer requirements and apply best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations, holding accountability for products that do not meet expectations.
Other responsibilities, including embodying our culture and values.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
4+ years of experience in designing and developing large‑scale or distributed systems and backend development.
1+ year(s) experience in people management.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
OR equivalent experience.
1+ year(s) experience working on large‑scale automated deployment systems.
Software Engineering M4 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year. A different range applies to specific work locations, with San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area ranges of USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year.
