Position Title: Heavy Equipment Operator - Apprentice

Company Name: Melvin Geib Inc.

Through our structured 3‑year apprenticeship program, you will receive hands‑on training with a variety of heavy equipment including scrapers, motor graders, packers, water trucks, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, and more. In addition to on‑job training, you’ll complete 40 hours of classroom instruction annually in Commerce City, CO.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured apprenticeship program, including on‑the‑job and classroom training.
  • Assist with operating various types of heavy equipment under supervision.
  • Follow safety guidelines and participate in daily Job Safety Analyses and tailgate meetings.
  • Support site crews with equipment preparation, setup, and breakdown.
  • Learn to perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on machinery.
  • Work across various job sites, supporting commercial, oil & gas, and utility constructionli>
  • Maintain a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Travel as required to project locations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a labor or construction setting is preferred.
  • Strong interest in heavy equipment operation and civil construction.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong desire to build a long‑term career.
  • Physically of working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to travel and attend required classroom instruction in Commerce City, CO.
  • No specific licenses or certifications required at start – training will be provided.
