Role Description Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. This position is intended for the advanced technology development groups in Department E11. The incumbent will lead the technical development of electrical components associated with advanced submarine propulsion plant designs and regularly communicates with Navy, NAVSEA, NNL, and shipyard engineers and technical staff via various platforms.

Must Have

Bachelor’s Degree and 14 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 12 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 9 years of experience.

Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Nice to Have

Strong technical background in submarine and/or aircraft carrier electrical system designs.

Demonstrated ability to propose new electrical system and component design ideas and then lead a team of engineers in the conceptual design, development, testing, and fielding of the final product.

Recognition in the shipbuilding technical community as a subject matter expert in electrical systems and/or power system components.
