The
Senior Accountant
plays a key role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities and projects. This position is responsible for managing treasury, preparing financial statements, overseeing intercompany transactions, reconciling accounts, assisting with audits and tax filings, and supporting the Controller with various accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, understanding of cash and accrual basis accounting in a multi-entity environment.
Key Responsibilities
Routinely prepare and analyze various financial statements and management reports.
Assist the Controller with updating the Work in Progress (WIP) schedule and recording related journal entries.
Prepare journal entries to close out completed projects and update financial records accordingly.
General Accounting
Prepare and record journal entries for recurring, adjusting, and intercompany transactions.
Set up and maintain vendor information, new entities, bank accounts, and job records within the Sage Accounting system.
Cash Management & Banking
Reconcile bank registers with corresponding bank accounts on a monthly basis.
Monitor multiple bank accounts daily, reviewing Positive Pay and ACH transactions for discrepancies.
Record non-check transactions in Excel cash registers and maintain proper documentation.
Process and record incoming wire transfers, confirming amounts and notifying stakeholders.
Initiate and record outgoing wire transfers as needed.
Prepare partner distributions and coordinate capital calls as required.
Audit & Tax Support
Collaborate with external CPA firms to complete annual audits and prepare tax returns for multiple entities and recording applicable adjustments.
Review and process annual 1099s in compliance with IRS requirements.
Prepare and send general ledger and tax depreciation adjustments to affiliate companies.
Accounts Payable & Billing
Bill outside parties for pursuit costs and affiliates for shared expenses; reconcile and document related costs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required and effort towards CPA is preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience; experience with real estate development, partnerships or construction accounting a plus.
Proficiency in Sage Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
