Role Description This is a full‑time, on‑site role for a CAD Designer/Tool Designer located in Tacoma, WA. The CAD Designer/Tool Designer will be responsible for creating detailed design plans and drawings for layup molds and vacuum fixtures. Key tasks include developing 3D CAD models, collaborating with engineers and production teams, and ensuring designs meet technical and production standards. The role also entails troubleshooting design challenges, optimizing tool designs for manufacturability, and maintaining adherence to industry‑best practices.
Qualifications
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting tools such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, Rhino, or similar software.
Experience in tool design, including layup molds, vacuum fixtures, and other related equipment.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, particularly in composite production.
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot design and production issues.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross‑functional teams.
Attention to detail and ability to deliver high‑quality work on time.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in the aerospace industry or with low CTE materials is a plus.
