Organization Overview Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and will provide APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site and to help build the processes and facility to enable successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Provide automation platform support and oversight for Lilly’s new LP1 facility at Lebanon.

Manage system integrators to deliver all aspects of automation at the new facility.

Support key corporate initiatives such as lifecycle management, engineering information management, and cyber security.

Key Objectives / Deliverables

Safety – Work safely and continuously seek improvements in personnel and equipment safety, ensure safe design and operation of new equipment, and ensure automation design reflects safety concerns for operations and maintenance.

Automation/Control Discipline

Partner with colleagues to support and enhance automated systems and equipment.

Perform solution assessment and performance reviews and verify proper and efficient operation of automated systems.

Support projects and integration of new equipment/technologies into the manufacturing workflow.

Manage tools, implement engineering standards, master specifications, and best practices.

Provide technical coaching and consultation to other Lilly engineers and facilitate shared learning forums.

Technology and Innovation – Keep current on external trends and practices to evaluate technology for application within Lilly.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or a related field.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in Industrial Equipment Control, API Manufacturing Process Control, Utilities Automation, or Environmental Control Systems.

Additional Skills / Preferences

Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control integrations.

Strong problem‑solving skills in process or manufacturing control, integration, and data.

Demonstrated ability to work safely.

Experience with at least two automation platforms, preferably Delta‑V and Rockwell Automation Systems.

Knowledge of sensing field instrumentation (e.g., Temp, Hum, Diss Oxy, pH, RH, Pressure, Flow) and acting instrumentation (e.g., valves, relays) and transducing instrumentation (I/P, P/I, V/P, P/V).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge of GMPs and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $66,000 - $171,600. Full‑time employees are also eligible for a company bonus (depending on company and individual performance) and a comprehensive benefit program, including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, death benefits, time‑off and leave of absence, and well‑being benefits.
