Outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) – LVN Dispensing Nurse
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LVN) to provide compassionate and professional care within our outpatient opioid treatment program (OTP) located in Chula Vista, CA. This role focuses on medication dispensing, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure safe and effective treatment for individuals in recovery from Opioid Use Disorder.
Job Type:
Per Diem/PRN – up to 19 hours per week as needed. Work Schedule:
Monday – Friday 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM; occasional Saturday 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM (early morning hours). Compensation:
$35.00 – $37.00 per hour – reasonable hourly range for California roles.

Your Responsibilities as Dispensing Nurse
Supervise medication administration under the Nursing Supervisor, Medical Director, and Clinic Director while upholding professional standards of care.
Accurately prepare and administer medication orders timed with clinic workflow.
Document medication administration and nursing care promptly in patient records.
Safekeep and inventory all medication stock in compliance with DEA, FDA, and regulatory agencies.
Maintain precise accounting of medication received from suppliers and dispensed to patients.
Dedicate approximately 90% of work hours to medication administration; remaining time may be assigned to other duties by the Medical or Clinic Director.
Process urine and/or blood samples, read test results, complete intake assessments, and monitor patient outcomes.
Ensure complete and accurate documentation of all procedures in compliance with clinic standards.
Transport medication to other locations or work on a mobile unit if clinic needs arise.
Perform other duties as assigned to support team operations.
Your Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited LPN/LVN nursing program.
Prefer 1 year of nursing experience in behavioral health, outpatient treatment, or addiction recovery field.
Training or experience treating outpatient treatment patients is preferred.
Ability to operate, monitor, and maintain medical equipment safely and effectively.
Skilled in drawing blood and collecting specimens for laboratory testing.
Proficient in EMR systems and related clinical software applications.
Competent in patient assessment, including evaluating medical histories, symptoms, and overall condition.
Able to monitor vital signs such as temperature, pulse, and blood pressure accurately and consistently.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician in accordance with clinic protocols.
Observe and document patient responses, side effects, and treatment outcomes to ensure safe and effective care.
Ideal Experience
Previous nursing experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings – highly preferred.
Familiarity with Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT) including safe handling, administration, and documentation of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
Experience in medication dispensing, monitoring patient dosing, and observing for adverse reactions or medication interactions.
Understanding of nursing best practices for substance use treatment, trauma‑informed care, and harm reduction principles.
Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration records, patient vitals, and incident reports in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., DEA, 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards) related to controlled substances and patient care.
Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated, patient‑centered care.
Licenses and Certifications
Current LPN/LVN license in the state of California.
Current CPR certification as required by state regulation.
