Primary Job Responsibilities
Supervise assigned staff ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, insurance and other financial requirements, and hospital policies and procedures
Act as a liaison between patients, consulting physicians, referring physicians, or outside agencies to coordinate patient appointments, admission, or surgery
Coordinate the exchange of information either written or verbally before and after patients are seen
Consistently demonstrate productive and timely communication with charge nursing staff, peers, patients, physicians, volunteers and other medical center departments and ancillary service
Increase collaboration between our PCC/PSS team through regular meetings and addressing overlap and delegation of duties between the two teams
Oversee break and vacation coverage through equitable means
Report out weekly, AccuReg, phone calls, referral numbers to administration
Coordinate pre-admission tests and procedures
Schedule and ensure pre-anesthesia workups are completed
Coordinate the direct transfer of patients from outside hospitals to UWMC with physicians, medical staff and admission
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in a medically related or public relations field
Two years of experience as a Patient Care Coordinator
OR an equivalent combination of education/experience
