Job Description Insight Global is looking for a Construction Estimator to join one of their federal contracting clients in Colorado Springs, CO. The individual will responsible for preparing detailed and responsive cost volume proposals in response to government and private solicitations. The selected individual will be expected to review and extract requirements from formal solicitation documents; solicit and obtain quotes for materials, equipment, and subcontracted tasks, and manipulate large work breakdown structures developed to support task totals. The selected candidate will be familiar with the conceptual planning, preliminary design, design-build process, design- bid-build process, able to work independently and be comfortable interfacing with all members of the design, construction, and management teams. This is a fully onsite position in the Colorado Springs office.
Responsibilities
Review RFPs and IFBs to determine cost requirements and ensure timely, compliant proposals.
Develop cost proposal formats and prepare spreadsheets using MS Excel or other software.
Create, refine, and format advanced formulas in MS Excel.
Develop detailed quantity take-offs from construction drawings and conceptual designs.
Create accurate cost estimates and distribute costs using work breakdown structures.
Participate in strategy meetings and provide cost-related input.
Review cost proposals, evaluate formula integrity, and recommend refinements.
Prepare cost/pricing presentations for management.
Review RFP scopes and prepare detailed cost estimates.
Prepare conceptual estimates from statements of work.
Write scopes of work including bid clarifications/assumptions.
Prepare proposal packages and RFQs, and solicit subcontractor pricing.
Manage pre-bid RFIs and field subcontractor questions.
Review quantities to ensure fair scope representation.
Validate material pricing against industry standards.
Prepare detailed breakdowns of estimates for systems and subsystems.
Create construction schedules using MS Project and Primavera P6.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must haves
8+ years experience of relevant cost estimating experience
USACE or relevant federal construction experience
Proficient in E4Clicks or large-scale estimating software
Familiar with RSMeans
