Position Title: Automotive Parts Salesperson
Department: Parts
Reports To: Parts Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary The Automotive Parts Salesperson is responsible for selling automotive parts and accessories to customers, service technicians, and wholesale accounts. This position requires strong product knowledge, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service skills. The Parts Salesperson ensures accurate order fulfillment, inventory control and professional communication while performing all duties consistent with ADA essential functions and dealership policies.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assist retail customers, service technicians, and wholesale accounts with identifying and purchasing the correct parts and accessories.
Answer phone calls, emails, and in‑person inquiries regarding parts availability, pricing, and compatibility.
Look up and process parts orders using dealership management system.
Issue parts to service technicians and maintain proper records of internal requests.
Prepare and process parts invoices, credits and returns accurately.
Maintain inventory control by assisting with stock orders, bin checks and stockroom organization.
Monitor back‑ordered parts and communicate status updates to customers and service staff.
Promote add‑on sales and recommend accessories to enhance customer satisfaction.
Maintain a clean, organized and professional parts counter and storage area.
Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements and safety standards.
Perform all duties in accordance with ADA essential functions and company safety guidelines.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 2 years of automotive parts or service experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of automotive systems, parts and accessories.
Proficiency in dealership management systems (Reynolds preferred).
Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
ADA Essential Duties
Ability to stand, walk and move between parts counters and stock areas for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
Ability to bend, reach and climb ladders to access parts storage areas.
Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone and electronically.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
