Role Summary Akerman LLP seeks an Associate in Texas with 4 to 6 years of labor and employment defense experience to join its expanding national labor and employment practice. The ideal candidate must have experience representing employers in federal and state court litigation, and have substantive experience handling wage and hour class action and collective actions and cases involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims. Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and be a member of the State Bar of Texas. The position can be located in any of the Firm’s Austin, Dallas or Houston offices. Hybrid and remote arrangements are available.
Responsibilities
Fact investigation
Exposure analysis
Managing discovery
Drafting pleadings and motions
Conducting legal research
Advising clients on complex employment law compliance issues
Alternative dispute resolution, client counseling, labor and workplace investigations (highly valued)
Qualifications
4 to 6 years of labor and employment defense experience
Experience representing employers in federal and state court litigation
Substantive experience handling wage and hour class action and collective actions as well as discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims
Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
Member of the State Bar of Texas
Location & Work Arrangements Position can be located in any of the Firm’s Austin, Dallas or Houston offices. Hybrid and remote arrangements available.
