Overview At Public Health we are dedicated to improving the well‑being of our diverse Ventura County community through innovative programs and compassionate care. As part of the California Children’s Services (CCS) Medical Therapy Program (MTP), you will work with families to help children from birth to 21 years of age who have medically eligible conditions, maximize independence, and thrive in their daily lives. Under the close supervision of the supervising therapist, you will plan, organize and implement rehabilitation in clinical and community settings. You may travel throughout Ventura County to provide occupational therapy tailored to each child’s specific needs.
What We Offer
Retirement Plan: Per diem pool employees scheduled to work 64+ hours per pay period will be in the County system; no retirement pickup is provided.
Holiday Pay: Paid at 1.5× overtime for hours worked on two major holidays per year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s).

Payroll Title:
Rehabilitation Therapist – PDP IV
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Per Diem Pool employees are limited benefited and receive additional compensation in lieu of full County benefits. Assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an as‑needed basis; no guaranteed hours per biweekly pay period.
Agency/Department:
Health Care Agency – Public Health (requires travel throughout Ventura County)
Rehabilitation Therapist PDP‑IV is represented by the Service Employees’ International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Only one (1) vacancy is currently available.
Duties
Provides occupational therapy services per California Business and Professions Code, Occupational Therapy Practice Act, and AOTA Standards of Practice.
Performs evaluation and ongoing assessment to determine functional status and deficits.
Plans, develops, and utilizes occupational therapy procedures to meet physical and functional needs.
Collaborates with physicians, patients, and families to set functional goals.
Performs tests and measures within scope of practice.
Applies, modifies, and fabricates static/dynamic splints and adaptive equipment.
Maintains equipment and orders supplies.
Documents patient status and progress.
Provides patient/family education for home exercise and activity programs.
Uses therapeutic techniques for group or individual goals.
Coordinates therapy programs with team members and agencies.
Participates in IEP process and represents the Medical Therapy Program.
May provide clinical supervision to staff therapists, assistants, or students.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education and Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy school or proof of equivalency plus 2 years of experience as an OT, OR
Completion of an internship or equivalent program plus 1 year of experience as an OT.

Special Requirements:
Current valid California Occupational Therapist License.
Valid California driver’s license and proof of auto insurance may be required by hire.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Live‑scan fingerprinting may be required.
Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Willingness to work with children birth‑to‑21 years with chronic, long‑term physically disabling conditions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Individualized Education Plans (CCS applicants).
Thorough knowledge of AOTA Standards, normal human development, human occupation, ADL skills, evidence‑based evaluation and treatment, splinting, adaptive equipment, positioning, and departmental processes.
Ability to assess and develop treatment plans, establish relationships, communicate orally and in writing, make referrals, fabricate orthotics, position patients, supervise work of others, provide basic activity instruction, prepare reports, analyze situations, and work cooperatively with multidisciplinary teams.
