RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct research and writing for cultural resource heritage components of state laws, NHPA Section 106, and NEPA documents for projects for private and government sector clients.
Perform literature review, field reconnaissance, field surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies.
Access online cultural resource databases.
Perform research and write technical reports.
Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in the area of archaeology and cultural heritage.
Collaborate with other ERM practice areas to share multidisciplinary resources and best practices across the country.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field of study.
2+ years of related professional experience in west coast regional cultural areas.
Located in Southern California and willing to perform field work.
Willingness to travel frequently to client site locations within and outside the state.
Physical capability to walk long distances (up to ten miles per day) in varying terrain, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and conduct shovel tests.
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
Experience with mapping equipment and other field application tools (e.g., total station, GPS, tablets).
Demonstrated experience completing inventory, survey, testing, and/or data recovery.
Familiarity with online databases, including AGOL.
Strong attention to detail in documentation of work.
Strong oral and written communication and computer skills.
Ability to work within a team as well as independently.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to be listed on BLM cultural resources use permits.
Preference for previous utility work experience.
