Job Description
Job Summary:
The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs in compliance with local, federal, and corporate requirements. This role ensures that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact. The EHS Specialist provides guidance, conducts inspections, develops training, and assists in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, EPA, NFPA, EQB (Junta de Calidad Ambiental), and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and enforce compliance with EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, NFPA) and internal standards.
Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Participate in the implementation of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
Conduct workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, ergonomic evaluation and audits.
Support EHS programs such as hazardous waste management, recycling programs, chemical handling, control of hazardous energy (LOTO), working at heights, emergency response, hot work, among others.
Prepared and delivered EHS training to employees at all levels, promoting safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in workplace safety culture.
Assist in accident investigations by identifying root causes and help to develop and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Evaluate the requirements of Personal Protective Equipment in the workplace.
Support emergency preparedness and response efforts, including drills and coordination with local authorities.
Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all levels of the organization.
Collaborate with different departments to establish a safe work environment.
Requirements: Education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety settings.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations.
Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
Strong skills in training development and delivery.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, teams, SharePoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification of OSHA 30 - Hr General Industry
First Aid / CPR / AED Certification
Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm 40 hours
