Job Description Prepares and maintains a sterile field and instruments for surgical and procedural cases under the supervision of the circulating RN. Counts according to policy in conjunction with an RN. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability by maintaining continuing education relative to practice; conducting oneself in a professional manner; adhering to health system policies and procedures and demonstrating competence.

Education and Credentials High School Diploma or GED required. Certificate Surgical Technologist upon hire required. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire. Completion of a nationally accredited Surgical Technology Program or a military Surgical Technology Program required upon hire; new graduates have one year from graduation to obtain certification. Maintain national CST certification granted by the NBSTSA, requiring 60 hours of approved CE every four years. Complete fifteen hours of continuing education each year. Grandfathering rules apply for New York employment prior to 2015.

Experience Working conditions include weekend/holiday and on‑call requirements; rotation work arrangement onsite.
