Since 1984, Larkin Street Youth Services has helped more than 75,000 young adults in San Francisco with outreach, shelter, housing, education, employment, healthcare, and other services.
Today, Larkin Street Youth Services is the largest provider of housing and services to homeless youth in the Bay Area, serving 1,500 youth annually across multiple sites.
Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Employment Specialist supports the Employment and Education needs of Larkin Street clients through resume building, cover letter creation, self‑esteem improvement training, and interview skills.
This is a full‑time position, eligible for full benefits.
Responsibilities
Support the interviewing and assessing of clients for Employment and Educational needs.
Participate in monthly Larkin Street Academy graduations, collaborating with other workforce development, education, and Youth Force programs.
Assist clients in job search, securing, and retaining employment.
Track clients’ progress in the workplace through regular communication with employment supervisors and housing case managers, maintaining up‑to‑date records of job retention.
Implement relationship‑building strategies with employers including presentations, special events, employer acknowledgement, and networking.
Assist in the design of promotional materials (monthly calendar, flyers, brochures, etc.) targeting potential employers, homeless youth, and social service agencies.
Meet regularly with clients’ case managers/advocates to discuss progress.
Fulfill reporting requirements as designated by the Employment/Education Services Department.
Administer Larkin Street Academy assessments and education surveys.
Identify and outreach to agencies that serve youth in need of education and employment services.
Other duties as assigned.
