About the Team
The Dasher Costs & Compliance team defines how millions of Dashers earn on DoorDash, directly shaping both Dasher satisfaction and DoorDash’s long‑term sustainability. Our mission is to make earnings
fair, reliable, and compliant , while enabling the business to thrive responsibly in regulated and emerging markets.
Earnings ML: Building machine learning systems that allocate earnings fairly, optimize Dasher engagement, and balance long‑term cost efficiency with platform health.
Earnings Tooling: Equipping operators with powerful self‑service systems to manage billions of dollars in Dasher pay, simulate pay outcomes, and move from manual adjustments to scalable, automated solutions.
Regulatory Market Success: Owning the technical foundation to meet evolving pay‑related regulations in high‑stakes markets (Seattle, California, NYC, and beyond), ensuring compliance while protecting both Dasher trust and DoorDash’s business.
The team consists of backend, frontend, and ML engineers, collaborating with senior technical leaders. We are redefining how gig workers are paid on a global scale to make DoorDash the most

About the Role As the Engineering Manager for Dasher Costs & Compliance, you will lead a highly skilled, cross‑functional engineering team. You’ll define and execute the technical strategy for our earnings optimization, compliance, and tooling initiatives, building resilient, scalable systems that directly impact millions of Dashers while ensuring the business stays ahead of regulatory and financial challenges.
Your Opportunity
Lead the vision, strategy, and execution for the earnings ML, earnings tooling, and regulated markets charter.
Build and scale systems that enable fair pay distribution, accurate earnings visibility, and regulatory compliance at global scale.
Partner with Product, Legal, Finance, and Operations to design systems that balance Dasher satisfaction, platform reliability, and business health.
Scale the team by mentoring internal talent and recruiting top‑tier engineers.
Deliver systems and models with direct bottom‑line and regulatory impact, influencing both DoorDash’s growth and industry‑leading reputation.
Your Profile
You’re an owner — proactive, accountable, and impact‑driven.
You bring technical leadership with strong product sense, balancing long‑term vision with pragmatic execution.
You have 2+ years of engineering leadership experience managing backend and/or ML teams.
You have 7+ years of industry experience with large‑scale distributed systems, machine learning applications, or financial/regulated platforms.
You thrive in ambiguous, high‑scale challenges, especially where technology, compliance, and cost optimization intersect.
You’re humble, collaborative, and open to feedback while pushing boundaries.
Compensation and Benefits The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job‑related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

Paid Time Off Details
For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
National base pay range: $193,800—$285,000 USD.
