D’Orazio Wealth Advisors (DWA) is looking for someone with a passion for the markets and investing to join our Portfolio Management Team as our primary trader.
We are a fee‑only financial planning and wealth management firm serving business owners, executives, families, and individuals. With over $1.35B in Assets Under Advisement, we pair personalized planning with a disciplined, technology‑forward investment process.
Location:
On‑site in Vienna, VA (potential for flexible/hybrid work with tenure).
Team:
Portfolio Management, partnering closely with Financial Planning, Tax Planning, and Operations.
Reports to:
Chief Investment Officer.
Client Acquisition Responsibilities:
None. This is not a sales/business development role in disguise.
What You’ll Do:
The Portfolio Management Associate will work directly for DWA’s Chief Investment Officer to partner with the Financial Planning, Tax Planning, and Operations departments to help manage, monitor, and maintain client portfolios.
Own the Trading Workflow and Data Integrity in Rebalancing Platform
Execute daily trading across client accounts using Tamarac Trading (Rebalancer); escape exceptions and resolve alerts.
Maintain accurate settings at the account, household, and system levels; streamline rules, workflows, and templates to improve speed and accuracy.
Place trades as needed directly via Charles Schwab Advisor Center and Fidelity Wealthscape.
Support Portfolio Oversight and Client Delivery
Monitor accounts, cash, drifts, restrictions, tax settings, wash sales, and tolerance breaches; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Help administer proprietary investment models and collaborate on new model development.
Assist with model administration: updates to strategic asset allocations, sleeve weights, drift bands, and position substitutions.
Contribute to portfolio reviews, performance reporting, and prep for client meetings; occasionally participate alongside the CIO.
Support Investment/Portfolio Research and Content
Provide research support for market/asset class commentary, portfolio analysis, and client communications.
Be a Force Multiplier for the Firm Participate in firm‑wide initiatives: new tech evaluations, workflow improvements, policy creation, and cross‑functional projects.
Embrace a “no task too small” culture, we all pitch in.
What Success Looks Like (First 6‑12 Months):
You’ve passed the required licensing exams to provide investment advice (Series 65).
You are at least studying for the first exam towards obtaining your designation.
You’re the go‑to operator of Tamarac Trading/Reporting with a reputation for clean data, smooth trade execution, and a keen understanding of how the rebalancing system works.
You can clearly articulate DWA’s investment strategy and rebalancing process both internally and externally.
Daily alerts and exceptions are resolved promptly with clear documentation.
Consistent contributions to client materials and internal research.
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity about markets; you track what’s moving and why, and you can articulate it clearly.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (especially Excel) and comfort adopting new software tools.
Familiarity with core financial and statistical concepts; organized, detail‑oriented, and able to prioritize in a deadline‑driven environment.
CFA or CMT designation either completed, in progress/enrolled, or a firm commitment to obtain.
Preferred
0–3+ years of relevant experience in trading, operations, or portfolio management at a Registered Investment Advisor, asset manager, or Tamarac/Envestnet.
Hands‑on exposure to Tamarac Trading/Rebalancer and Tamarac Reporting (or a comparable OMS/portfolio accounting platform).
Experience with Schwab Advisor Center and/or Fidelity Wealthscape.
Interest in systematic investing and rules‑based portfolio construction.
Bonus: basic experience with data/automation (e.g., Excel power‑user, Power Query/Power BI, or light Python/SQL) and artificial intelligence.
