THOR Solutions is actively seeking a Senior Operations Analyst to support the US Navy Mine Warfare Readiness and Effectiveness Measuring (MIREM) at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA. This position is associated with an upcoming contract that THOR is pursuing, with an estimated award/work start late 2025. We are conducting preliminary, “contingent” hiring for roles associated with this contract. The work start is dependent upon THOR being awarded this contract.
Typical Responsibilities
Ensures the validity of MOEs/MOPs used to accurately quantify exercise results;
Conducts statistical trend analysis on sensor, systems, weapon and countermeasure data to incorporate multiple exercise results and ascertain system performance and TTP effectiveness;
Investigates the validity of probabilistic models and algorithms resident in proposed tactical decision aids;
Ensures the design and execution of M&S studies meet the specified objectives;
Communicates exercise results in oral and written formats to representatives of naval commands, engineering labs, and program offices;
Provides insight during ad hoc workshops and conferences and responds to statistical queries of systems performance;
Supervises the performance of other analysts.
Location Onsite at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) in San Diego, CA.
Travel Requirements Up to 20% travel is anticipated, including CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Typical Physical Activity Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches), speaking or vision.
Typical Pay Range The anticipated pay range for this position in the identified location(s) is $82,500 - $115,500/year. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience.
Existing Security Clearance Required This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must already possess an active or interim security clearance. A candidate with especially strong, relevant experience but no active security clearance may still be considered, but work start would be dependent upon a new Secret clearance being awarded.
Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, or similar field;
Six (6) years experience leading analysis teams;
Four (4) years experience in operational research, operations analysis, applied math, and statistics;
Excellent analytical problem-solving skills;
Experience in the use of analytical software tools such as Matlab, Statistical Analysis Software, and Microsoft Excel;
Proficient with common productivity software, including the Microsoft Office suite;
Excellent communication skills.
