Sales & Use Tax Senior, State and Local Tax You will advise clients on state and local tax implications, develop strategies to reduce tax burdens, and ensure compliance with evolving regulations. As the primary client contact you will prepare and deliver presentations, manage engagements, and collaborate with firm specialists.

Responsibilities

Analyze potential tax issues and recommend mitigation strategies.

Provide advice on tax implications of business decisions.

Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Maintain relationships with state and local tax agencies.

Develop and implement consulting strategies to maximize client benefits.

Communicate with clients to gather required information and manage expectations.

Serve as primary point of contact during audits and controversies.

Mentor and supervise Associates, providing performance feedback and development guidance.

Utilize tax research databases and software to support engagement work.

Ensure engagement letters are adopted and engagements are managed effectively.

Track filing requirements and ensure timely submission of client-related information.

Identify potential changes in tax policy and apply new regulations to client filings.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D. preferred.

Minimum two (2) years of state and local/multistate tax experience.

Strong analytical, research, and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

Experience with tax research tools and software such as GoSystems.

Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detail and to multitask independently or in a team.

Advanced knowledge of state income/franchise tax regulations and compliance.

Licenses / Certifications

CPA certification or other relevant certification preferred.

Technical Skills

Proficient use of tax application suites and research databases.

Understanding of SOX compliance as it relates to tax engagements.

Knowledge of tax compliance standards and best practices.

Salary Range National Range: $73,500 - $131,250
