About the Team R2 is Cloudflares object storage platform, designed to offer developers a durable and reliable storage solution that integrates seamlessly with Cloudflares Developer Platform, including Workers and other compute products. The R2 team builds foundational infrastructure that operates at massive scale and powers critical workloads across Cloudflares global network/designing and maintaining distributed systems that handle high throughput, provide strong consistency and durability guarantees, and support a growing number of developer-facing features.
Youll be joining a highly motivated team that is building the next generation of object storage.
What Youll Do In this role, you will help us build out the next generation of our globally distributed object storage system. You will own your code from inception to release, delivering solutions at all layers of the software stack to empower Cloudflare customers. On any given day, you might write a design document that outlines how you plan to solve a specific problem, implement a new feature, or fix a bug that's impacting our users. You can expect to interact with a variety of languages and technologies including Rust, Go, and TypeScript.
Examples of desirable skills, knowledge, and experience
Strong programming skills with languages like Typescript, Rust, or Go
A solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as consistency, consensus, data replication, and partition tolerance
Experience with distributed storage systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to explain technical decisions clearly
Experience building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency systems
Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines and evolving priorities

This is available publicly for everyone to use - it is the first consumer-focused service Cloudflare has ever released. Heres the deal - we dont store client IP addresses never, ever. We will continue to abide by our privacy commitment and ensure that no user data is sold to advertisers or used to target consumers.
