We are currently looking for a
DevOps Engineer
for a 100% remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated, scalable, and secure cloud-based infrastructure solutions. This role spans the entire software development lifecycle with a focus on automation, continuous integration, and system reliability.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation.
Architect, build, and maintain cloud environments in AWS to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Implement monitoring and alerting systems using tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus, or ELK.
Manage containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, and Helm.
Collaborate with developers, QA, and IT teams to streamline workflows and improve deployment efficiency.
Integrate security controls and compliance checks into DevOps pipelines (DevSecOps).
Automate repetitive tasks using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
Establish and maintain centralized logging, incident response, and disaster recovery procedures.
Ensure adherence to cloud security best practices and organizational standards.
Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and automation strategies to improve performance and reliability.
Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or automation engineering.
Strong experience with AWS cloud services and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
Proficiency with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins).
Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, or AppDynamics.
Experience with scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
U.S. Citizenship required, with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Additional Qualifications
Experience with cloud networking, security, and identity management.
Knowledge of Infrastructure Observability tools (ELK, Jaeger, Kiali).
Experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
Familiarity with high-availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.
