Authorized Nuclear Inspector - Northeast US
We are seeking an Authorized Nuclear Inspector to provide ASME and NBIC Code required inspections and oversight activities. The role requires independent judgement and minimal supervision.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide ASME and NBIC Code inspections and oversight activities.
Engage customers, introduce available services, identify opportunities, and direct customers to appropriate HSB resources.
Perform inspections, repairs, alterations, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels.
Execute NDE examinations (ASNT Level II or III).
Education:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Desired:
Completion of accredited military training program on boilers, pressure vessels, or nuclear reactors.
Associate or Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mechanical discipline preferred.
Graduated from accredited technical school.
Power Engineering Certification.
Completion of accredited apprenticeship program for boilermaker, pipefitter, or steamfitter.
AWS CWI certification.
API-510 or API-0570 certification.
Experience:
Required: One year minimum experience, up to 4 years dependent on education level.
Operation of high pressure boiler steam plant exceeding 50,000 lbs/hr.
Performance of repairs, alterations, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels.
NDE examiner (ASNT Level II or III).
Manufacturing, inspection, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels.
Desired: Up to 4 years experience in the above areas.
Knowledge and Skills:
Technical:
Working knowledge of ASME Code and NBIC.
Familiarity with welding processes and non‑destructive examination methods.
Hold National Board AI Commission preferably with N and R endorsements.
Non‑Technical:
Planning and organizational skills.
Self‑motivated with ability to work without direct supervision and adaptability.
Interpersonal skills.
Customer service focus with ability to develop strong customer relationships.
Effective communication (both verbally and written).
Problem‑solving skills.
Computer technology skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
Routinely move about a large manufacturing facility or construction site, while performing visual inspections of nuclear equipment and piping systems.
May need to work in cold or hot temperatures.
May need to lift own body weight with associated safety equipment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
