Electrical Engineer – General Atomics Aeronautical Systems General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer working within our ASI Division located in Poway, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the electrical integration of avionics modules and payloads into unmanned air vehicle systems.

Designing cables and wire harnesses that interconnect electronic equipment within the vehicle.

Generating system cable interconnect diagrams, point-to-point cable wiring schematics, cable lengths, routing details, and cable BOM.

Conducting integration tests to verify functional operation, generating test fixtures and test procedures for system level test.

Supporting operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and developing effective approaches to resolving those issues.

Troubleshooting, analyzing, and repairing systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

Providing documentation and making technical presentations as required.

Directing the activities of designers and technicians and possibly directing less experienced professional staff.

Maintaining the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Applying engineering concepts, principles, and theory while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Quickly understanding new concepts, applying them accurately, and organizing work assignments to meet established timetables.

Exhibiting strong communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; working independently and as part of a team.

Job Qualifications

Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, and two or more years of engineering experience. Equivalent experience may substitute for education. Working knowledge of Electrical Wiring Interconnection System standards: SAE-AS39029 (MIL-C-39029) – Electrical Connector Contacts, MIL-DTL-38999 – Circular Electrical Connectors, SAE-AS50881 – Wiring Aerospace Vehicle, NAVAIR 01-1A-505-1 – Aircraft Electric and Electronic Wiring Manual.

Working knowledge of electrical bonding; EMI/EMC shielding and filtering techniques.

Complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory, and experience demonstrating broad application of those concepts.

Ability to understand new concepts quickly, apply them accurately, organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases, and determine appropriate approach at task or project level to provide solutions to complex problems.

Excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; capability to perform complex tasks in one engineering area and lead less experienced professional employees on semi‑routine tasks.

Able to work extended hours as required.

Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Job Type: Full‑Time Salary

Salary range: $68,770 – $116,193

Location: Poway, CA
