Senior Technical Revenue Accountant

Summary:
Genesys is looking for a passionate Senior Technical Revenue Accountant to join our growing team! The Senior Technical Revenue Accountant will be responsible for tasks related to one or more of several workstreams’ (Cloud, On premise, Term License, Maintenance and Professional Service) revenue recognition on the Technical Revenue Team. This is not a typical accounting role and will require many ad-hoc analysis, complicated contract reviews, urgent discussions with Sales/Deal Desk, and organizational excellence to adapt to the changing priorities. The Senior Technical Revenue Accountant will assist in the validation, accounting and review of sales-related transactions. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate reporting of revenue and accounting. The Senior Technical Revenue Accountant position will work closely with the Deal Desk and Finance teams in reviewing deal structure and terms.
Key Responsibilities Revenue Analysis
Part of a team that ensures that all revenue is accounted for in accordance with Genesys policies and accounting guidelines, i.e. ASC 606.
Review of completeness and accuracy of data in the Revenue system (RevPro).
Determining and processing appropriate contract updates, revenue adjustments and other journals in the Revenue System.
Operating and overseeing revenue related internal controls.
Prepare deal reviews/checklist to ensure revenue is being recognized in adherence to ASC606 and Company policy.
Technical Revenue
Provide ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance to Legal, Deals Desk, Finance, and Order Management.
Prepare technical accounting memos and assessments for complex transactions.
Assist in ASC 606 policy updates and trainings.
Support the revenue projects function in the design, test, and implementation of updates to existing and new systems.
Maintain necessary financial and control records along with supporting documentation related to Revenue for audit and Sarbanes-Oxley purposes.
Participation in ad hoc projects to support business initiatives including assessment of new products, acquisitions, and new internal revenue needs.
Deal Desk, Sales, and Customer Success Management Support
Review of customer orders to ensure compliance with the Revenue Recognition Policy and accounting principles.
Review/approve orders against company policy and advise sales of any inconsistencies against policy and recommended actions.
Working closely with Order Management, Collections, Deal Desk, and Finance personnel to meet business objectives.
Assist with the review of sales opportunities, contracts and non-standard transactions – provide appropriate accounting guidance and propose solutions within Company’s revenue recognition policy.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of related Revenue Recognition (ASC 606) experience.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or Part Qualified Accountant (ICAE, CCAB, CPA or equivalent).
Experience with software clients and/or industry with revenue background.
Ability to interact effectively with sales and product teams, functional peer groups and subordinates and to gain cooperation from others, especially those in other departments, as well as with outside auditors and outside legal counsel.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple concurrent and diversified tasks, while working with deadlines.
Confidence and proven record to communicate both orally and written, including the dissemination of technical information.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly organized, with great attention to detail.
Problem solver: The candidate should be a strong, analytical problem solver with a common sense and practical solutions orientation.
Desirable Skills
Experience using CLM, Salesforce, RevPro and Workday.
Prior experience with SaaS company.
Experience with ChatGPT and other AI tools.
Public accounting experience.
Advanced in Excel.
Compensation This role has a market‑competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance‑based bonus opportunities. $72,700.00 - $135,100.00
