The

Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician

is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and process quality within sterile processing operations. This role combines technical sterile processing tasks with advanced inspection and documentation duties to safeguard patient safety and support regulatory compliance. The position emphasizes quality assurance beyond standard technician responsibilities, reinforcing adherence to company, state, and federal sterilization standards while maintaining a strong commitment to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Follow all ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company Work Instructions. Decontaminate used surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and safety protocols. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical instruments as required. Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets in accordance with established guidelines. Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and structural integrity prior to packaging. Identify, document, and report missing, incomplete, or damaged instruments per SOPs. Maintain accurate and timely records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels. Handle all instruments and customer-owned items with care to prevent damage or loss. Perform computer-based documentation and tracking tasks daily. Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels. Conduct routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of sterilization equipment. Maintain clean, organized, and compliant decontamination and assembly work areas. Adhere to all company quality assurance standards, infection control policies, and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with team members, operations staff, and distribution personnel. Provide feedback and recommendations to improve processes, efficiency, and quality outcomes. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certifications and technical competencies. Perform other related duties as assigned by management. Working Conditions

Work is performed in a

fast-paced, climate-controlled environment

with restricted access. Regular exposure to

biohazardous materials , cleaning agents, and strong odors. Moderate noise levels

typical of sterilization and mechanical processing equipment. Frequent standing

and manual handling of surgical instruments and trays required. Personal protective equipment (PPE)

must be worn at all times during active processing.
