Overview The Head of Business Banking & Treasury Services leads the credit union’s business banking, treasury management, and commercial lending functions, including C&I, CRE, and SBA lending. This role is responsible for driving business member growth through the development of business community relationships, product innovation, and operational excellence across the full suite of treasury and payment services (ACH, RDC, wires, merchant, fraud, etc.). Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, this leader builds high‑performing teams, develops market strategies, and ensures exceptional member experience through digital and traditional channels.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategies to expand business banking, treasury management, and commercial lending (C&I, CRE, SBA) portfolios.
Product Management: Oversee the full suite of treasury management products (ACH, RDC, wires, merchant services, fraud prevention, etc.), including product development, pricing, and delivery.
SBA Lending Buildout: Lead the development and implementation of SBA lending programs, including process design, product rollout, and market engagement.
Business Development: Drive business member acquisition, market expansion, and relationship management through outreach, partnerships, and community engagement.
Portfolio Management: Establish and monitor portfolio analytics, profitability, and risk segmentation; implement changes to mitigate loss exposure and optimize returns.
Sales & Onboarding: Oversee business banking sales, onboarding, and relationship management, ensuring seamless member experiences.
Digital Delivery: Collaborate with IT and digital teams to enhance the delivery of business services through digital platforms.
Team Leadership: Attract, develop, and retain high‑performing teams across business banking, treasury management, and commercial lending.
Budget & P&L: Create annual budgets, manage P&L for business banking and treasury management, and ensure financial goals are met.
Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance across all business banking and treasury management activities; assist with audits and regulatory examinations.
Training & Development: Deliver ongoing training and professional development for staff and business members.
Market Intelligence: Stay informed of industry changes, market conditions, and lending/pricing trends to maintain competitive advantage.
Supervisor Responsibilities: Supervise managers and teams across business banking, treasury management, commercial lending, underwriting, and account servicing; ensure optimal performance and professional development of all team members; foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in business banking, treasury management, or commercial lending (C&I, CRE, SBA).
Proven leadership in building and scaling business banking and treasury teams.
Formal credit training and SBA experience are strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success in market expansion, business development, and P&L management.
Ongoing professional education to remain current with industry standards, compliance, and products/services.
Knowledge and Skills
Deep expertise in treasury management, payments, and commercial lending.
Strong business development, sales leadership, and relationship management skills.
Advanced analytical, strategic planning, and portfolio management capabilities.
Experience with digital banking platforms and fintech integrations.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and team‑building skills.
Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Compliance
Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and issues related to business deposit and commercial lending operations.
Assist with audits and regulatory examinations; provide timely responses and corrective actions.
Conduct all duties in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and credit union policies and procedures.
Comply with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti‑Money Laundering (AML) laws and regulations.
Pay Grade info Base pay for this position is $225k–$250k annually.
