Founder & CEO of Hadron Energy | Engineer Providing Clean Energy | Global Engineering Leader | International Standards & Certifications Scholar Hadron Energy specializes in Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) development, design, and research based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As the leading MMR developer, Hadron Energy is building factory-produced, transportable microreactors that provide 24/7 carbon-free power for data centers, government facilities, industrial sites, and remote communities. Our mission is to create a brighter, healthier, and more equitable energy future.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Civil Engineer, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong technical expertise in civil, site, and infrastructure design who are passionate about supporting the deployment of next-generation clean energy systems.
The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning, design, and coordination of site development, foundations, and infrastructure for Hadron Energy’s micro modular reactor (MMR) installations. This individual will work closely with structural, mechanical, and regulatory teams to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and regulatory standards across diverse deployment environments.
You will play a key role in shaping Hadron’s site engineering strategy—developing scalable, standardized civil and structural designs that support rapid, factory-built deployment of modular nuclear power systems worldwide.
Responsibilities
Lead and support site design, grading, drainage, and foundation engineering for microreactor deployments
Develop civil design drawings, specifications, and reports in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
Conduct geotechnical and site feasibility assessments for new reactor locations
Design and analyze foundations, support pads, and structural interfaces between the reactor module and site infrastructure
Coordinate with environmental and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal permitting requirements
Support transportation, logistics, and constructability planning for modular system deployment
Review and interpret survey data, topographic maps, and geotechnical reports
Collaborate with structural and architectural teams on integrated plant layouts
Interface with contractors and engineering partners during construction and installation phases
Prepare and maintain documentation for design packages, project approvals, and regulatory submittals
Contribute to internal design reviews and risk assessments to ensure safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness
Qualifications & Skillsets
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline
5+ years of experience in site development, civil design, or infrastructure engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one is strongly preferred
Proficiency in civil and structural design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, STAAD Pro, or similar tools)
Knowledge of geotechnical principles, concrete and steel design, and construction methods
Familiarity with ASCE, ACI, and AISC standards and local building codes
Experience with permitting, environmental impact, and site compliance processes
Strong understanding of drainage, utility coordination, and grading design
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional engineering environment
Passion for sustainable infrastructure and advancing clean, reliable nuclear energy
