Human Technologies, Inc. is assisting a well-established and rapidly expanding nationally franchised retail company with their search for an experienced

Chief Financial Officer.

This is an exciting opportunity for a CFO with a proven record of success in financial leadership, driving growth, and optimizing systems and processes.

The company headquarters is located just outside of

St. Augustine, FL . Relocation assistance is available, and it is strongly preferred that this person will reside within a few hours of the Florida headquarters in order to be onsite as needed. This role can be full-time onsite, hybrid, or mostly remote depending on the candidate’s preference and location. This is a full-time, salaried, direct-hire position, and the base salary range is approximately $200,000 - $250,000 / year. The company offers fantastic benefits and a positive, fun work culture.

Summary:

The CFO plays a pivotal role in guiding the company’s financial strategy and overall fiscal health. This hands‑on executive will oversee all financial operations, drive sustainable growth, and ensure strong financial performance. The CFO will also be a key partner in supporting our franchisees’ success while optimizing internal financial systems and processes.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree/MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred

10+ years of proven success in accounting/finance leadership roles with growing companies

Experience with a large, national retail company is strongly preferred

Must have strong ERP, data visualization/analysis systems and financial/reporting technologies experience. Preferred – NetSuite, Monday, PowerBI (or similar), etc.

High level of experience with risk management, financial audit, OPEX (Operating Expenses) management, contracts management, and commercial risk and liability insurance.

Expert knowledge of GAAP, Cost Accounting, and Tax Accounting.

Displays authentic characteristics of emotional intelligence, including self‑awareness, empathy, and restraint.

Ability to maintain the highest standard of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.

Exceptional leadership and team development abilities, with a focus on building high‑performing, collaborative teams.

Strong analytical, strategic, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.

Processional and effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey financial concepts to non‑financial stakeholders.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship (now and in the future).

Job functions include:

Budget Management & Cost Optimization

Lead the annual budgeting process, monitoring performance against targets and providing insights for operational efficiency.

Identify and implement cost‑reduction initiatives that strengthen margins and drive sustainable growth.

Develop and execute long‑term financial strategies that align with the company’s overall goals, with a focus on franchise growth and new revenue opportunities.

Build financial models to evaluate new initiatives—including franchise prospects, expansion efforts, and underperforming revenue channels such as Wholesale and E‑Commerce—to maximize profitability.

Month‑End & Year‑End Close

Lead timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end closings, ensuring completeness and accuracy across all accounts.

Establish and uphold best practices for reconciliation and reporting, operating with a “trust but verify” philosophy.

Evaluate the impact of tax structures on profitability and cash flow, including management of deferred tax assets and liabilities.

Partner with external tax advisors to optimize available credits, deductions, and incentives.

Identify and mitigate tax‑related risks through proactive analysis and strategic planning.

Oversee all federal, state, and local tax filings and compliance, maintaining expertise in evolving tax legislation and its potential effects on the business.

OPEX and Financial Audit Management

Direct and manage both internal and external audits to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.

Oversee OPEX, establishing controls and efficiency measures to maintain or enhance profitability.

Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in full compliance with GAAP.

Delegate reporting responsibilities effectively, reviewing and validating the quality of work to maintain accuracy and transparency.

Investment & Capital Management

Evaluate and secure funding options to support strategic growth initiatives.

Manage relationships with banks, investors, and franchise partners to ensure an optimal capital structure that supports the company’s long‑term vision.

Identify and mitigate financial risks within corporate and franchise operations.

Promote a culture of accountability and proactive risk awareness across the organization.

Insurance Management

Negotiate and manage commercial liability insurance programs, ensuring comprehensive coverage at competitive terms.

Regularly assess insurance needs to maintain compliance and safeguard company assets.

Evaluate and refine the finance team structure to ensure operational excellence.

Mentor, coach, and develop staff to build a high‑performing, growth‑oriented finance organization.

Oversee short‑ and long‑term technology strategies and investments that align with business objectives.

Manage the IT function, ensuring that technology initiatives—including ERP systems and financial technologies—enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Franchisee Partnership & Support

Develop and implement financial programs that help franchisees improve profitability, efficiency, and long‑term sustainability.

Contracts Management

Oversee all financial and commercial contracts, including franchise and supplier agreements.

Ensure compliance with contract terms while identifying and mitigating financial risks.

Performance Measurement & Reporting

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to track business performance.

Deliver clear, data‑driven insights and recommendations to the executive team and key stakeholders.
