As a Software Engineering Director at Capital One, you will be at the forefront of developing innovative customer-facing web and mobile applications. Your expertise will drive the creation of highly-available RESTful microservices and back-end systems using advanced technologies such as machine learning and Big Data. We are looking for a passionate leader with a strong background in both emerging and traditional technologies, including node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL, relational databases, Spark, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
Mentor and guide the technical development of your team members.
Collaborate with product managers to define application capabilities and testing scenarios.
Continuously enhance software engineering practices.
Work within Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack technical solutions.
Champion the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your team’s solutions.
Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and engage in technology communities.
Foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
Enhance the velocity and productivity of teams across the organization.
Lead efforts in deploying applications into AWS environments.
Reconfigure existing monolithic applications into modern microservice architectures and create new microservices.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
At least 7 years of software development experience.
A minimum of 5 years of experience managing teams.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
Over 10 years of software development experience.
5+ years of experience implementing Agile practices.
This position is eligible for employment authorization sponsorship. The available salary ranges for this role are as follows: McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200 Plano, TX: $239,900 - $273,800 Richmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800.
