Job Description Position Summary

The Human Resources Director will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies and activities of the Human Resource (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance with applicable laws and alignment with the organization’s mission and talent strategy.

Essential Job Functions

Collaborates with leadership to align staffing, recruiting, and retention strategies with organizational goals

Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements HR policies, procedures, training, initiatives, and surveys, including the Employee Handbook and Policies & Procedures Manual

Administers HR programs including hiring, compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations; performance management; employee recognition; morale; occupational health and safety; and professional development

Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for talent acquisition and retention

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends using HR metrics and reports from the organization’s human resource system (BambooHR)

Monitors and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; reviews and updates policies accordingly

Develops and maintains job descriptions for all organizational positions

Guides and supports leadership and supervisors in the performance evaluation process

Administers employee benefits and collaborates with payroll staff to ensure accurate deductions/earnings; coordinates the annual employee benefits meeting

Serves as primary contact with insurance providers; manages all organizational insurance policies

Prepares HR-related information for the annual audit and collaborates with external auditors

Ensures confidentiality, integrity, and security of HR data and employee information

Assists leadership and the Finance Department in maintaining federal and state grant compliance

Performs other duties as assigned

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field highly preferred

Master’s degree in HR or related discipline preferred

Experience Requirements

At least five years of progressive HR management experience highly preferred

SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred

Experience using the BambooHR platform preferred

Nonprofit organization HR experience preferred
