General Purpose The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers politely, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practices, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and performs a range of functions across the store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be requested to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.

Maintains awareness on the sales floor and keeps egress clear; corrects or reports unsafe conditions.

Treats all customers and associates with respect; mentors on recognition programs.

Assists customers—register trained, answers questions courteously and knowledgeably; greets customers with eye contact, smile, and “hello.”

Responds promptly to customer service calls; handles issues and involves store leadership if needed.

Represents and supports the company brand at all times.

Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).

Maintains a professional appearance and follows the company's dress code.

Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and merchandised per best practice.

Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor with urgency; merchandises items to monthly presentation guidelines.

Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist role (if applicable), and merchandise protection standards.

Demonstrates integrity and honesty; safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.

Follows Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies and procedures for disposals and approvals.

Follows all cash, check, charge‑card, and refund transaction procedures; maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.

Demonstrates urgency to execute Store best practices and minimize steps in workflow.

Qualifications and Special Skills

Effectively communicates with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative, and pleasant manner.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

Ability to use store equipment: PDTs, registers, PC.

Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, moving around the store.

Ability to bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.

Ability to occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.

Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.

Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.

Stockroom shifts: ability to push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation The base pay range for this role is $17.95–$18.45 per hour. Compensation varies by location and experience.
