Azure & AWS Principal Cloud Solution Architect Position Overview We are seeking a Principal Cloud Solution Architect with advanced AWS and Azure architectural hands on expertise to lead the end-to-end design and implementation of secure, automated, and self-service cloud platforms for a financial client. This role blends architectural vision with hands-on execution, focusing on scalable solutions, seamless integration, and compliance with industry standards. The overall aim is to establish "Cloud Foundations," to accelerate the client’s adoption of cloud services, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. The project's primary goal is to create a comprehensive suite of productized standards, reusable components, automation, and tools. The successful implementation of Cloud Foundations is intended to improve developer velocity, enhance security and compliance posture, and optimize operational efficiency across the enterprise's cloud journey. The vision for this project is to create a secure, automated, and self-service cloud platform. The intended users of the reusable components: Developers within the client team. We will also liaise with the operational teams to share documentation with them on how to operate what’s created.

The Principal Cloud Architect will lead, shape and deliver on this vision following the client’s Agile delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

Design, orchestrate and implement scalable, secure AWS and Azure cloud architectures aligned with business and regulatory needs.

Lead delivery of key product Epics: Disaster Recovery Patterns, Network Design, and Monitoring & Alerting Solutions.

Ensure alignment between development and production environments for reliable integration.

Provide expert guidance, thorough analysis of tradeoffs and best practice recommendations to ensure a healthy prioritization and decision making process.

Develop comprehensive developer documentation (inclusive of Docs-as-Code) and training to support cloud platform adoption for Azure and AWS.

Drive blueprint architectural design and standard infrastructure patterns for IaC workflows (inclusive of IaC scanning).

Champion cloud-native security to protect data and ensure compliance.

Enhance developer experience through Internal Developer Portal (Harness IDP) and Image Factory improvements.

Support Terraform Enterprise (TFE), SaaS control plane, and IaC development and scanning tools.

Continuously assess infrastructure for optimization, cost efficiency, and innovation.

Deliver technical documentation and stakeholder reports.

Partner with the Program Manager, Principal Automation Architect and the Engineers (Automation, Security, Cloud and Harness) and Technical Writers.

Flexibility to engage with offshore team members and to engage in deployment activities during approved outage windows.
