SCADA Analyst Job Description Location:

On-site Houston, TX

Schedule:

Full-Time, 9-hour shifts

The Role As a

SCADA Analyst , you will bridge field operations and digital systems, ensuring real‑time data accuracy, system reliability, and operational visibility across pipelines, facilities, and control networks. You’ll analyze, configure, and optimize SCADA environments to support safe, efficient, and compliant energy operations.

Core Responsibilities

Configure and maintain SCADA databases, tags, screens, and alarm logic.

Validate real‑time data from RTUs, PLCs, flow computers, and sensors for accuracy and integrity.

Build and enhance HMI displays for control room operators and field users.

Develop and automate reports on production, pressure, flow, and system health.

Troubleshoot data discrepancies, communication failures, and polling issues.

Support system integrations with historians (OSI PI, Ignition), ERP, and GIS platforms.

Perform root cause analysis on SCADA-related incidents and implement fixes.

Collaborate with SCADA engineers, I&E techs, and operations to deploy upgrades and new assets.

Maintain documentation: Tag dictionaries, network diagrams, change logs, SOPs.

Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards (NERC CIP, API 1165, ISA/IEC 62443).

What You Bring Must-Have

3+ years in SCADA system support, configuration, or analysis.

Hands‑on experience with major SCADA platforms (Cygnet, Ignition, Wonderware, ClearSCADA, Geo SCADA).

Strong SQL skills for querying historians and relational databases.

Understanding of field protocols: Modbus, ROC, OPC UA/DA, DNP3.

Proficiency in HMI development and alarm rationalization.

Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, serial comms, VLANs, firewall rules for SCADA traffic.

Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, and control narratives.

Excellent analytical and documentation skills.

Nice-to-Have

Experience with OSI PI (AF, PI Vision, PI DataLink) or time-series databases.

Scripting: Python, PowerShell, or VBA for automation and data extraction.

Knowledge of oil & gas operations: Lease automation, pipeline metering, LACT units.

Familiarity with cloud SCADA (AWS IoT, Azure RTOS) or edge analytics.

Cybersecurity training (CISSP, GICSP, or ISA certificates).

Experience supporting 24/7 control room environments.
