Job Overview
The Territory Manager is a position focused on new business development and account management of the wholesale fuel division. The manager is responsible for recruiting and maintaining profitable branded and unbranded dealer accounts within an assigned territory, supporting the company’s mission and vision. The role focuses on business development, volume growth, and overseeing a group of accounts while reporting directly to the Area Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure details of new account and contract set‑up are in place, including pricing, freight, taxes, and invoice requirements.
Maintain awareness of and report on competitor’s sales efforts and programs within the assigned territory.
Build and update account plans for key growth customers, ensuring contract compliance.
Optimize the company’s return on capital deployed.
Advises customers on retailing factors, including competitive pricing, customer service, facility appearance and cleanliness.
Identify opportunities through prospecting, customer relationship management, and external resources; develop business plans, sales proposals, and present them to potential and existing customers.
Maintain documentation of sales activities, customer efficiency, and related expenses; prepare and submit sales plans.
Account for individual site volume performance, attain Q&A/QD performance within the territory, and organize annual client reviews.
Oversee and manage approved contractors and vendors to deliver imaging and customer support projects within scope, schedule, and budget.
Demonstrate self‑direction and time management by focusing on value‑added activities and eliminating non‑value‑added tasks.
Work closely with internal real‑estate groups, external brokerages, and online resources to source potential wholesale marketer acquisitions.
Maintain brand requirements and ensure necessary remedies are completed.
Understand and analyze Profit & Loss reports as well as fuel financial and sales reports.
Partner with customers to develop long‑term relationships, generate additional sales, and guide problem‑resolution discussions.
Attend industry conventions and other marketing activities to develop professional relationships.
Advise customers on equipment upgrades and assist them through the purchase or upgrade process.
Demonstrate leadership in directing sales calls, managing sales contracts, and closing sales.
Maintain a full sales pipeline while managing opportunities through all stages to achieve sales volume.
Analyze potential new business deals and contract renewals; present proforma to the executive team.
Communicate between customers and the company, obtaining accurate customer details and documents in CRM.
Maintain a working knowledge of customer issues, pricing and billing procedures, operational issues, and brand programs.
Collect documents and details to resolve customer concerns.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent of 3–5 years’ experience in the field.
5+ years of sales management focused on new business development with marketing and merchandising experience.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint).
Two (2) years of prior customer service experience.
Preferred Skills
Fuel industry experience with knowledge of branded and unbranded programs.
Experience with CRM tool(s).
Hours The position is full‑time and requires some overnight travel.
Salary & Compensation Competitive base salary of $80,000 plus commission.
