Senior Water Resources Engineer
to help lead stormwater, drainage, and water quality projects across the Greater Houston area.
This position is ideal for an experienced H&H engineer who enjoys both the technical side of modeling and design, as well as mentoring junior staff and engaging with clients. You’ll have the opportunity to make a direct impact on flood mitigation, watershed management, and sustainable infrastructure for municipal and regional clients throughout Texas.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage stormwater management, flood mitigation, and water quality improvement projects for public and private clients.
Oversee the design and analysis of stormwater infrastructure, including detention/retention basins, open channels, storm drain systems, and stormwater control measures (SCMs).
Perform and direct hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling using tools such as
HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), StormCAD, and EPA SWMM .
Prepare and review plans, specifications, and construction documents to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with local, state, and federal standards.
Coordinate permitting efforts with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies.
Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communications.
Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical resource to project teams.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience
in stormwater management, drainage, or water resources design.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE)
license in Texas (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Proficiency with
HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormCAD, EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, and GIS .
Strong understanding of stormwater design principles, modeling, and construction documentation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
Preferred
CFM certification
or floodplain management experience.
Familiarity with
Houston-area design criteria and drainage standards .
Experience with
green infrastructure, SCM design, and nature-based solutions .
Prior involvement in
client relationship management or proposal development
is a plus.
