POSITION TITLE:

Warehouse Clerk

NATURE OF WORK

PERFORMED:

The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for receiving, stocking, shipping/transferring, tracking/ordering, and issuing parts, supplies, and tools following established procedures. This position assists in ensuring that inventory levels are maintained, out-of-stock parts are ordered to repair downed vehicles, proper parts/supplies are distributed, and that related databases are current and up-to-date at all times. The Warehouse Clerk also maintains the parts room/warehouse.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

AND/OR EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate or GED equivalent. Knowledge of parts room/warehouse terminology and practices is required. Experience in the areas of diesel/automotive repair, or diesel/automotive parts is desirable. The incumbent should have knowledge of warehouse-related databases. This position requires effective communication and interpersonal skills, data entry skills, a high comfort level working with numbers, the use of office machines and computers, and the ability to maintain up-to-date records and plan ahead for material requirements. A valid Driver¿s License, as well as the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and operate a forklift, is required.

SPECIFIC

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Receiving

a. Responsible for receiving all goods and materials, to include unloading trucks by hand and with the use of hand truck and forklift. Enter all pertinent information into warehouse/parts database. Verify shipments with purchase orders noting any incorrect parts, shortages or damage.

b. Transmit receiving information on a daily basis to Inventory Control/Purchasing Clerk for update of purchase orders and related documents.

c. Encode parts and supplies for inventory purposes.

Stocking a. Responsible for maintaining all parts and materials in parts room in an orderly and easy-to locate fashion, stocking by manufacturer when possible

Shipping/Transferring a. Transfer/deliver parts and supplies to and from warehouses as required using company vehicle.

b. Prepare used parts for return to proper vendor, to include packing, wrapping, palletizing and loading.

c. Locate and prepare surplus/discontinued parts for removal.

Tracking/Ordering a. Track frequently needed parts through manual counts and monitoring warehouse/parts database. Prepare lists of needed parts for Inventory Supervisor.

b. Contact vendors to determine parts/supplies availability in the case of a revenue service vehicle being downed due to lack of parts. Pick up needed parts from vendors using a company vehicle as necessary.

c. Requisition and order parts and supplies as needed. Enter all new part numbers into warehouse/parts database.

d. Monitor fuel and fluid levels at various facilities and reorder as necessary, to include troubleshooting and reprogramming the fleet fueling system computer and encoding access keys.

e. Track tire serial numbers on revenue service vehicles, to include physically locating specific vehicles and recording its tires¿ serial numbers. Prepare a report indicating which serial numbers belong to what vehicle.

5. Issuing Materials/Inventory Control

a. Responsible for the dispersal of required parts to the Maintenance department, while maintaining the integrity of the parts requisition process and ensuring that all distributed parts are entered into the warehouse/parts database. This may include researching parts books, consulting vendors, and working with Maintenance personnel to determine the proper part.

b. Responsible for the control and issuing of tools in accordance with established guidelines.

Assist with yearly physical inventory. d. Assist with special maintenance campaigns, as required.

6. Safety/Housekeeping

a. Promote and ensure safe storage of hazardous materials.

b. Maintain clear aisleways and overhead space.

c. Report all unsafe acts and conditions to the Inventory Supervisor.

Regularly straighten and clean parts room.

e. Collect scrap metals and parts from the maintenance area and deposit in dumpsters. Bring scrap metals to salvage yards as required.

7. Perform other duties as assigned or required.
