Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer located at the Redstone Test and Engineering Support (RTES) Contract in Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. Astrion has worked extensively with the Redstone Test and Engineering Support (RTES) Contract where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an ABET accredited college/university and 6 years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing aircraft, missiles, and spacecraft; or a Master's Degree in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university and 4 years of applicable experience; or a PhD in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university, and 2 years of applicable experience.

Working knowledge of Army rotary and fixed wing aircraft

Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Government security clearance (Must be a U.S. Citizen).

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Must have a valid driver's license.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Proficient understanding of mechanical systems

Ability to read and create mechanical drawings

Experience with FEA software, preferably ANSYS

Ability to verify component structural integrity

Experience with Solidworks

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a senior mechanical engineer in the field of airborne instrumentation systems integration for the US Army Test & Evaluation Command, Redstone Test Center.

Survey aircraft for mounting locations and provisions of structural hardware.

Design structural components that allow the attachment of electronics and/or other hardware to be installed on aircraft.

Create models and drawings using SolidWorks software.

Work with our onsite machine shop on a regular basis.

Assist machine shop with component fabrication and mechanics with component installation.

Verify component integrity through analysis using classical and finite element analysis (FEA) methods.

Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.

Present materials and designs to customers and staff.
