Khalsa is a long‑standing education provider in Phoenix and is about to celebrate its 50th anniversary! We value diversity and offer a safe place for all children and adults to grow. Khalsa Montessori School has an opening for an Assistant Teacher in Primary (3‑5/6‑yr olds). The assistant will provide support to the lead teacher and aid in running the classroom. This individual must be creative, loving and kind, calm, flexible, organized and dependable. They must be passionate about working with children. Primary classroom assistant position is full‑time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm, in a Montessori classroom. Responsibilities include cleaning safety protocols, monitoring the classroom, ensuring appropriate follow‑through of the teacher’s direction or the student’s chosen behavior, maintaining educational materials, keeping the classroom environment attractive, snack preparation, and supervising children during classroom time and outdoors (approximately one hour per day). Qualifications: Minimum one year of experience with young children. High integrity, maturity, open‑mindedness, flexibility, dedication to the well‑being of the children, willingness to be a team player, and a “beginner’s mindset.” Experience working well in a team environment. Positive attitude, caring and curious about learning and working with children of all ages. Strong classroom management and multitasking skills. Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival and dismissal as needed. Montessori experience is a plus. Required education: High school or equivalent; college degree a plus. Required experience: Childcare or experience working with children. Classroom management: 1 year. Required licenses: Valid IVP AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR and First Aid certification, and a negative TB Test. Applicants must be reliable, trustworthy, physically healthy, free of chemical addictions (non‑smoking). Benefits: 401(k) matching / 403(b) available with employer matching after one year.
