Position Overview Motiva is looking to hire Instrument/Analyzer Technicians to join our Refinery and Chemicals Facility in Port Arthur. The Instrument/Analyzer Technician performs maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, installs, calibrates, and repairs process control instruments at the facility.
Instrument/Analyzer Technician roles located at Motiva's Refinery are Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated positions, and are subject to drug and alcohol testing in compliance with DOT regulations.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair gas chromatographs, sampling systems, CEMS analyzers and other analytical instruments.
Troubleshoot, calibrate, and make field repairs to actuators, switching valves, pressure switches, and regulators in sample systems.
Maintain maintenance records on all analyzers.
Troubleshoot and repair safety shutdown systems.
Troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair control valves.
Troubleshoot and repair level, temperature, pressure, and flow measure equipment.
Troubleshoot, calibrate, configure, and repair electronic transmitters.
Overhaul, repair, and calibrate displacer level controls.
Execute preventative maintenance on all instrumentation equipment.
Read and interpret wire diagrams, spec sheets, loop drawings, and P&ID’s.
Update, document, and provide reports using computer systems and software.
Interface with operators, engineers, and maintenance personnel.
Develop and improve maintenance procedures.
Experience and Qualifications Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent education.
3+ years of experience working as an Instrument Technician or 1+ year of experience working as an Analyzer Technician OR must have an Associate’s degree or equivalent certification in Instrumentation or Analyzer Technology.
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card.
Physical Requirements
Willing and able to work outside in inclement weather with or without accommodation.
Willing and able to work in compact and confined spaces with or without accommodation.
Must be willing and able to work at heights, walk on high elevation grating and to walk up and down stairs with or without accommodation.
Motiva emphasizes safety in all phases of its business; therefore, with proper training, you must be willing to use safe lifting techniques to lift 50 pounds from the ground to waist level with or without accommodation.
Must be willing and able to work in self‑contained breathing apparatus.
Other Requirements
Must be willing and able to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends.
Must be willing and able to be on call and meet callout standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies.
