Job Description Position Title: Human Resources Generalist

Type of Position: Hourly, 40 hours/week

Job Description: The Human Resources Generalist will handle daily tasks necessary to support our employees and members of our management team. From recruiting, updating data spreadsheets to tracking HR metrics, and even meeting with employees to assist with relations issues, this individual will need to have a strong HR background to complete all tasks.

This position is a full-time 40 hours a week role. The candidate is expected to be onsite for all 40 hours due to our entire production workforce being onsite each day. Flexibility can be provided at times, and remote work is available periodically provided advanced notice is given. You will work alongside the HR Manager to ensure all HR related tasks are solved daily.

Responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist

Responsible for recruiting and staffing our facility. Manage job postings and review resumes via ADP. Conduct phone screens and schedule trial shifts. Send offer letters, background check requests, and electronic onboarding process via ADP.

Assist in running weekly orientations. Orientations involve relaying all GMP (Good Manufacturing Procedures) and important Michele’s Granola information to new hires. New hires must be entered into an Alchemy training software and shown core videos before being allowed on the production floor.

Assist new hires with onboarding tasks including completing documentation in ADP, ordering safety shoes, assigning security badges and punch codes, and all other housecleaning items.

File HR records electronically in employee accounts in our HRIS (ADP).

Process employee terminations in ADP and update rosters to reflect changes in workforce.

Handle all workers’ compensation claims. Provide necessary information to MEMIC (Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance Company) and be point of contact to help guide injured employees through the process.

Complete unemployment claims via the Maryland Department of Labor portal.

Assist with handling a wide variety of employee relations situations as they occur, including being present in progressive discipline meetings between the employee and management.

Provide a substantial wellness and recognition program for our facility. The generalist will be responsible for organizing and conducting facility wide events, as well as creating a program that will improve the morale and retention of our workforce. The generalist will report to the HR manager periodically on the status of the program.

Requirements and Experience Needed for the Human Resources Generalist

Bachelor’s degree in HR related field

At least 3-5 years’ experience working as an HR representative

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., ADP, Kronos, BambooHR) and Microsoft Office Suite

Knowledge of employment/labor laws and HR best practices

Ability to work independently as well as function effectively and comfortably as a multidisciplinary HR professional

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity

SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification a plus

Authorized to work in the U.S.
