Department Summary The Department of Economics at UNT is located in Denton, Texas, 30 miles north of Dallas, with a population of 158,000. The department offers multiple baccalaureate degrees (BA, BS, BBA) and a master’s (MS) program. The department is actively involved in educational and research activities designed to produce graduates with the economic background and quantitative skills necessary to succeed in today’s labor market or Ph.D. programs in economics and related subjects. Employers in business, industry, education, and government are in need of employees that can analyze and interpret data. Our graduates are well prepared to meet these needs, and the demand for our students is growing.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or Yoruba.
Position Overview The department is seeking to hire an undergraduate teaching lecturer in the department of Economics who will teach a 4:4 load and will contribute service to promote the department’s mission during the 2026‑2027 academic year.
Responsibilities
Teach large sections (80‑140 students) of Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics.
Teach any additional courses as needed, in consultation with faculty and based on departmental needs.
Contribute service to promote the department’s mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Economics.
Previous experience teaching principles of economics.
Preferred Qualifications None specified.
Employment Type Full‑time.
Work Schedule Varies based on assignment.
