Position Summary Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) - Bloomington is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our mission in a newly created position and a tenure-track faculty appointment. The successful candidate will be an externally funded researcher with a track record of administrative and leadership success. Leadership responsibilities will include serving as the Assistant Director for Research for the IUSM - Bloomington campus of the Indiana University Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center (IUSCCC; https://cancer.iu.edu/index.html) and the Director of Graduate Studies for the Cell and Molecular Cancer Biology (CMCB) PhD program (https://medicine.iu.edu/boomington/graduate-programs/cell-molecular-and-cancer-biology-phd). It is anticipated that the Administrative/Operational responsibilities associated with this leadership position will constitute approximately 20% of the successful candidate's workload. The successful candidate will report directly to the Associate Dean, IUSM - Bloomington.

Areas of research interest include molecular mechanisms of cancer and/or therapeutic development, including but not limited to the areas of the tumor microenvironment, regulation of gene expression within various cancer models (such as glioblastoma, breast, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, and colon), cancer stem cells, cancer epigenetics and cancer bioinformatics. They will benefit from recently renovated laboratory space with outstanding core facilities as part of the IU Bloomington campus and the Indiana CTSI (e.g., genomics, microscopy/imaging, major animal facilities, chemical biology, others), and access to a large cancer tissue and data bank of the IUSCCC.

Basic Qualifications

Terminal degree required. PhD or equivalent

Preference given to those who have achieved tenure and the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

A strong publication and funding track record in cancer research.

Demonstrated ability to develop an internationally competitive and externally funded research program in the field of cancer biology.

Experience with, and a thorough understanding of, graduate education.

Demonstrated excellence in leadership as evidenced by leading an educational or administrative team.
