Cognizant is seeking a SQL Server/Azure DBA for a full‑time remote opportunity. Applicants must be located in the US and must have valid work authorization; we are unable to offer visa sponsorship.
The salary range for this role is $99,000 to $116,000 depending on skills and qualifications of the candidate.

Responsibilities
Migrating many SQL instances to a new data centre
Several migrations may include new server builds and new (upgraded) versions of SQL installations. Servers will be built by a different team
SQL installation/upgrades and configuration across SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019
Assisting with testing and verifying migrated / upgraded SQL instances
Identify potential risk and make recommendations
Testing and remediation of impact on DBA maintenance scripts, SQL agent jobs, audits, triggers, credentials, policy management, ODBC driver configurations
Streamlining the entire migration process to minimize downtime
Participate in migrating production servers (non‑business hours)
Provide regular status updates and attend project meetings
Document new / upgraded server configurations and share knowledge
Contribute to database operations and continuous improvement activities, including on‑call rotation as assigned
Qualifications
Strong experience managing teams in DB technologies from SQL Server, Oracle, and/or Sybase domains
Hands‑on experience with RDBMS server design, build and migrations
Very good experience with configuration of HA solutions like Failover cluster and Always On solutions
Migration experience to on‑premise SQL Server databases to cloud platforms such as Azure/AWS
Must have strong experience with SQL Server security hardening and implementing best
Expertise in managing multiple SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2017 instances on medium to large systems
Strong experience in handling very large databases
Very good knowledge of Windows OS and its related commands
Good knowledge of T‑SQL and query tuning; performing tasks related to installation
Enough expertise to identify and recommend changes / improvements to the build process
Knowledge of SQL Server from architecture to administration including design, development, and optimization of SQL Server databases
Proficient in performance tuning, backup, recovery, security, patching, upgrades, and high availability
Strong expertise in designing and HA deep skills in Windows Clustering, SQL Always On Availability Groups, clustering, log shipping, mirroring and storage replication
Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end‑to‑end
Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, other shell scripting and Python, Ansible playbooks
Work experience in Azure SQL database administration
