Summary of Job Duties The Sterile processing Technician is a vital part to our team at the Orthopaedic and Spine Hospital (TOSH) to provide the absolute best outcomes for our patients. This position decontaminates (disassembles, cleans by hand and/or machine) medical instruments & materials in the Sterile Processing Department. This is a position that has a lot of growth opportunity within the department and healthcare profession.
Minimum Qualifications
High School, GED, or formal educational equivalent
Ability to Follow Oral instructions, read, and write.
Computer literacy in Word/Excel
Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of SPD leadership experience preferred or Surgical Technical experience
Professional License/Certification: IAHCSMM/CBSPD Certified
CRCST/CIS
Sterile Processing Experience
Responsibilities
Decontaminate (disassemble, clean by hand and/or machine) medical instruments/materials.
Assemble and package, inspect and test instruments, reassemble sets, place sets in proper containers and/or wrapping, and load/transport loaded carts with prepared sets.
Maintain a record of loads and items being removed from the department for processing. Transport loads to and from CSS and prepare proper storage of instruments and equipment.
Use and test sterilizing equipment; perform dart and biological tests for autoclaves; perform diagnostic and biological tests for Steris sterilizer.
Record and accurately interpret results of tests; assist OR staff; help locate needed supplies and equipment.
Communicate professionally even when under pressure/fulfilling demanding and/or stressful requests.
Position revolves around serving the Operating Room's (ORs) sterile instrument and equipment needs.
Must understand the URGENCY of the OR staff’s requests.
Answer directly to the Sterile Processing Manager.
Other related duties as assigned.
