News 12 is a hyper‑local news station covering communities throughout Long Island, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Westchester, Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey. Join our team as a creative, driven and experienced Senior Special Projects Producer/Editor/Shooter to help produce, shoot and edit multi‑platform, audience‑driven long‑form content.
Base Pay Range \$77,112.00/yr – \$126,684.00/yr
Job Summary This role will handle multiple projects with the Originals team and partner directly with News and Marketing to ensure creative vision for all content is realized. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work effectively in a small and highly collaborative team.
Responsibilities
Create multi-platform audience‑driven content using compelling video and sound that maintains the voice of the network.
Develop and produce small‑ and large‑scale shoots from pre‑production through post‑production and delivery while adhering to budget.
Participate actively in the storytelling process, including developing story ideas, researching and planning segments.
Innovate ways to produce and deliver content to viewers.
Capitalize on material from multi‑camera shoots, DSLR cameras, iPhones, GoPro, and other formats to elevate storytelling.
Coordinate and collaborate with news, programming, and marketing departments to meet deliverable deadlines and expectations.
Adapt to ever‑changing industry technology.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Mass Communications, related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of videography, producing and editing experience in broadcast or cable television.
Strong proficiency with production equipment and editing software including DSLR cameras, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, audio mixing, and graphics integration.
Knowledge of production and post‑production techniques.
Excellent organizational, project management and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive and problem‑solve in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
Technical proficiency with PCs and Macs.
Experience with Electronic News Production Systems (ENPS) preferred.
Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and move quickly while carrying equipment.
Drone pilot experience/licensing is a plus.
