The Sports League Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of youth and adult sports leagues. This position provides customer service to participants, parents, coaches, and spectators while assisting with site supervision, officiating, scorekeeping, and conflict resolution. The Sports League Assistant helps ensure that games run smoothly, safely, and fairly, while creating a positive experience for all involved. This position is for our Youth Basketball League. Qualifications – Education, Experience and Training
Candidates should have experience in sports participation, coaching, officiating, or recreation program support. They must demonstrate the ability to provide positive customer service and effectively interact with players, parents, coaches, and spectators. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and self‑motivated, with the capacity to manage game operations and site responsibilities. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required and if not certified, must become certified. Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Greet and assist players, parents, coaches, and spectators at league sites. Provide accurate information about schedules, rules, and league expectations. Represent the district in a professional and friendly manner. Open, set up, monitor, and close sports facilities/fields as scheduled. Ensure proper use of equipment and facilities, reporting any issues to the supervisor. Enforce district and league rules to maintain a safe environment. Assist as a referee/official for games when needed. Monitor game play to ensure fairness and adherence to league rules. Record game results and submit scores as directed. Address disputes between coaches, players, and/or spectators calmly and respectfully. Manage unsportsmanlike conduct with fairness and professionalism. Report incidents and safety concerns to the supervisor immediately. Assist with communication of weather cancellations, schedule updates, or site changes. Support league staff in distributing equipment and materials. Perform other duties as assigned.
