Senior Counsel – Sales & Customer Experience Geico is seeking an experienced legal professional to provide guidance for our sales, insurance distribution, and customer service business units. The role involves day‑to‑day legal advice, developing innovative distribution strategies, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.

Base pay range:

$135,300.00/yr - $260,350.00/yr

Primary Responsibilities

Understand all key business objectives and compliance needs for supported business units, ensuring regulatory compliance while driving business success.

Serve as lead attorney for assigned division(s) and anticipate their future legal needs.

Collaborate with the contracts team to manage the negotiation and drafting of relevant commercial agreements.

Provide legal guidance related to sales, distribution, and servicing of insurance.

Coordinate support for assigned division(s) with other parts of the legal department.

Assess implications of business choices across multiple legal areas (privacy, consumer‑protection laws, IP, contracts, etc.) and advise accordingly.

Basic Qualifications

At least 8 years of experience at a law firm or in‑house, with at least 6 years in e‑commerce, sales of regulated products, strategic partnerships, consumer‑protection laws, customer service or user experience, or insurance sales/distribution.

Must hold a U.S. law degree and active license to practice in the United States.

Strong listening and communication skills.

Ability to quickly digest business plans and processes.

Ability to provide legal advice with incomplete information.

Superb judgment about legal and adjacent risks and mitigation opportunities.

Solution‑oriented mindset.

Demonstrated experience solving business problems and advancing business metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with B2B relationship management (as partners, not vendors).

Proven success working on novel and emerging issues.

Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with internal clients and external partners.

Ability to identify opportunities for enhancements and assist in implementation of creative solutions.

Experience providing legal support on distributing insurance or other regulated products through third parties.

Location:

Hybrid – Requires 2–3 days onsite at Chevy Chase, MD, [Cleveland, OH], or New York, NY.
